Acer Iconia B1 Unboxing Video £99 Tablet – Androidizen

Acer Iconia B1 is the latest £99 Tablet here we Unbox the Iconia B1 and give you our first impressions of the Hardware package. Coming soon a full review of Acer Iconia B1. Visit our website: http://androidizen.com

The race to the bottom has begun with Acer a tier 1 Hardware provider releasing it’s £99 Tablet offering in the Iconia B1.

First impressions are the Acer Iconia B1 is a cut above other £99 tablets, with a plastic yet sold enough feeling housing and a fetching if a but colourful design.

The Specs are encouraging with a 1.2Ghz Dual Core CPU and 512 of ram backed up by 8gig of storage space this £99 Tablet has some guts.

The 1024x 600 Capacitive Touch screen looks ok for a tablet of this spec but still underwhelms when compared to higher PPI screens.

Other than that the Acer Iconia B1 sports 3G, 80211n Wireless networking and 0.3mpx front facing camera for skype of Hangouts. ****

Cracking Sands Android on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 & S3 – Androidizen

If you like hectic kart racing and big guns then Cracking Sands has everything you’re looking for in a game. See Galaxy S3 accessories here: http://goo.gl/hHkhel

At £3.11 from the Google Play Store, this isn’t a cheap game, but it does have a lot of entertainment value and repeat playability.

Basically, Cracking Sands Android it’s another of these games where the world is coming to an end and there aren’t many people left, but you’re one of them, trying to survive in an increasingly difficult world where your best bet for continued existence are the death races.

You can create your own custom character and kart from various themes and then arm yourself with an arsenal of weapons, including missiles, mines and other far-fetched but entertaining items. You can unlock new hardware to make your character even more effective.

There are single player game modes but if you want to create global mayhem you just go online and pal up with other people in multiplayer mode Cracking Sands Android.

This is one from the Polarbit stable and has some great graphics and entertaining gameplay. We think it’s fab! Visit our website: http://androidizen.com ****

Norton Security for Android – Nexus 7 – Androidizen

If you want to be sure you can locate your Android smartphone if you lose it or someone steals it, then Norton Mobile Security Lite is worth considering.

Norton have been around for years of course, anyone who’s ever used a desktop computer is likely to have installed one of their packages at some time or another.

This latest offering, which is free from the Google Play Store, allows you to scan your device for malware and viruses. It will autoscan for new downloads and app dates as well, making this something that you can run in the background without having to make the effort to keep updating.

If you’re unlucky and lose your device, then you can use remote locate to find it on a map, which is probably one of the features everyone hopes they’ll never need to use.

On a more regular basis you could be targeted by malware and viruses and Norton will scan and remove apps if it looks as though they’re going to slow down your device, as well as harm it. SD cards are also scanned for threats.

If you want more whizzy features than the Lite version, then you can upgrade to the full version which allows you to wipe your smartphone if it’s stolen or remotely lock it. It also allows you to back up your contacts so they can be restored when you get your phone back.

It will also block nuisance calls and SMS messages as well as send a scream alarm to help locate the device if you mislay it.

The full version is £29.99, so it’s not cheap, but what price do you put on your data security? Visit our website: http://androidizen.com ****

Crazy Fist 2 Android Review Galaxy Note 2 or S3 – Androidizen

If you’re looking for a 3D action game then Crazy Fist 2 is the one to go for. See Galaxy S3 accessories here: http://goo.gl/hHkhel

From the devs PG Soul, Crazy Fist’s hero has superhuman powers, allowing him to punch through walls, demolish icy glaciers, and give volcanoes a run for their money.

As the damage mounts up on this Android game, so do the scores. The more attacks you carry out, the higher the score, until you get to the top invincible status so you can ignore blocks.

The higher your score, the faster the running speed so it’s challenging! You do get a tutorial though and it’s a good place to start to make the most of the game.

The graphics and frame rate are pretty solid and the jumping and breaking wall actions are fun.

There are local leader boards and if you have a good idea you want to see in the game you can either tweet or Facebook the devs to tell them about it.
Visit our website: http://androidizen.com
Pretty cool and you can download it from the Google Play Store for free. ****

Sophos Mobile Security Android Review – Nexus 7 – Androidizen

Sophos Mobile Security Android is a free Mobile anti-virus application for the Android device and it promises not to affect performance or that all-important battery power.

You get protection from attacks by USSD and it also allows you to wipe your phone or lock it remotely if the phone is lost or stolen. If you register the program it will scan every number before you dial it.

If you do mislay the phone, then it can display a message for the finder so you can get it back, and it also uses tracking to find out if it’s been stolen and lets you know if your SIM card has been changed. We really like Sophos Mobile Security for Android.

You don’t want your privacy, and that of your business contacts and friends, put at risk so the privacy protection is worth having. It tells you when apps are about to access your address book as well as alerting you to apps which might be running up bills for you.

Sophos also gives you quite easy to understand installation instructions and it’s easy to use too.Visit our website: http://androidizen.com ****

Rise of the Blobs Android Review for Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Rise of the Blobs Android is one of those daft games that are an absolute joy to pick up and play with blobs as they rise when you’re stuck on public transport.

What you’ve got is a blast of hungry blobs trying to eat a marshmallow, who is stuck on the top of a tower. To save the marshmallow, you have to fill the blobs with fruit and get them into huge chains.

Well, we did say it was daft! It’s also quite compelling and we’ve spent rather more time than we should playing it. Judging by the number of downloads, between one million and five million, it’s very popular.
Visit our website: http://androidizen.com

Rise of the Blobs Android is a little bit Tetris but a bit more than that though as it is a 3D puzzle game and you do have to use strategy. There are also quite a number of different game modes so you won’t get bored and you can get your m8s involved as well. You complete missions to earn rewards and it is quite challenging so has replayability.

This Android game by Robot Invader is free on the Google Play Store and, as with most free-to-play games, you can pay to upgrade with power-ups to get higher scores. You get a little tutorial to help you on your way too.

The graphics are lovely, very pretty, and you can sync the game across all your devices so if your Android battery takes a beating, because this game is quite compulsive, you can move on to a different device while you’re recharging. We love Rise of the Blobs Android.

It’s had a couple of recent updates which have improved performance and it’s well worth a download.

Brian Blessed Alarm Clock Android for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – Androidizen

Brian Blessed Alarm Clock Android from the so crazy I have to buy that pile comes an Alarm Clock voiced by Brian Blessed. He of the INCREDIBLE LOUD VOICE.

First he was a Sat Nav now he is an alarm clock and honestly you have to buy this just to hear the wide range of Brian voiced alarms.

Never has one man done so much to make you get up in the morning even going so far as to butcher some of the greatest works in history for your amusement.

Amaze your friends and then remind them he’s the beardy one from Flash Gordon with the wings.

I wake up to Brian Blessed every morning and it’s glorious.
Visit our website: http://androidizen.com

It was one of those days, it was raining cats and dogs, but mostly cats, and we were bored, we were very, very bored.

And then along came the opportunity to test out this app Brian Blessed Alarm Clock, and our day suddenly became a lot sunnier and more fun.

For anyone who doesn’t know about this character, Brian Blessed is a bit of an institution in the UK. He’s a good Yorkshire lad who became an actor. Instantly recognisable on the small screen, with his large bushy beard, Blessed not only appeared in the police soap Z-Cars (in the days before soaps were even invented), he has done his share of Shakespeare and stage work. He may well be remembered for his performance as Grampy Rabbit in Peppa Pig.

He’s also tried to climb Mount Everest three times and was the oldest man to trek to the magnetic North Pole.

So Blessed has all the right credentials for being the voice of an alarm clock, his booming persona being the main one.

What do you get in this 69p Android app from Blessed Originals?

Well, you certainly won’t oversleep, that’s for sure! Blessed has recorded 30 different alarms so you are unlikely to slumber through all of them, particularly not the optional Brian on a rocket alarm which we would defy anyone to ignore.

The screenshots are quite pleasing, if you want the bearded one in your face all the time. To be fair to the lad, he doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get fewer nightmares.

There haven’t been too many sales of this app in the Google Play Store at the moment, but the 28 or so people who’ve rated it five stars greatly outweigh the number who don’t like it (two).

We think it’s fun, and it would be quite cool if Mr Blessed could turn his attention to other Android apps. Shopping lists for instance. ****
