HTC Targeted by ASUS for buyout so it seems my prediction that HTC would be subject of take over talks before the year ends are coming to pass. Asus are making noise they want to acquire HTC, HTC for their part are spinning a denial saying no talks have taken place and they have no interest in ASUS… HTC’s shareholders will think very differently.

HTC One M9 RAW Support DNG+JPG HTC have pushed an update to the M9 camera that enables RAW DNG+JPG support within the apps camera.

This change is likely to offer a big boost in image quality as DNG images are not compressed and hold all the information about the scene when the image was taken allowing higher quality post processing work in Photoshop and other apps.

RAW support is the future of Android photography and its very very nice to see HTC leading the pack.

How Raw Support on the One M9 Works

Whenever you take an image using RAW DNG+JPG on your HTC ONE M9 you store two files on your device. One is a JPG as normal and the other is a DNG files that can be anything up to 40 mb each. The stored image is uncompressed and also holds information about the scene when the image was taken, such as the white balance and exposure.

Using an application like Photoshop you can then have much finer control to adjust the image after the picture is taken just like a real photographer would using a DSLR.

It’s great HTC has included RAW DNG+JPG support in the ONE M9 it’s sure to improve the functionality of the camera for those that want finer control and uncompressed images.

Is the HTC One M9 too hot to dandle? It seems the thermal properties of the HTC One M9 are a cause for concern at this late stage before release. Thermal imaging suggests the HTC One M9 is going to have heat problems unless HTC make changes before release.

Nexus 9 and Android Lollipop announced -here we are the first look at the Nexus 9 and we now know Android L stands for Lollipop.

It’s been a long time for HTC to be back making a Nexus device and with the Nexus 9 they are packing a huge punch with the Tegra K1 under the hood.

The Nexus 9 will launch sometime in November with Android Lollipop expected around the same date.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the Nexus 9 stacks up against the refreshed iPad and Galaxy Tab range.

HTC One 2014 M8 No OIS optical image stabilisation. Yes! It’s gone from the new 2014 HTC One and it’s a real shame as it impacts on the quality and flexibility of the HTC One M8 camera.

A real shame that OIS is missing from the HTC One M8 – you can really feel it’s not there when shooting video or taking pictures in less than ideal conditions.

HTC really should have gone for OIS over duo-camera.

It’s a real miss-step to fail to provide the app at launch with all that great content being created on the duo-camera but no way to share it with your friends.
